# Profit and Loss (PNL)

Realized profit and loss represents the actual result of a closed trade operation in a specific timeframe. When you close a position, at a price in the favor of your openned you earn profit. Conversely, if you close a position contrary of your openned price you realize a loss. Realized profit and loss are crucial metrics for guaranteed the success of a trading strategy.
